I have added 9 new boxes, (all on predator guards) bringing the total number of boxes to 53.

A new camera for the outside view Woodiecam2 has been ordered. This new camera will have much better resolution (550 lines) and better color.

I have also removed 156 Wood Duck boxes from trees on Holt Lake. Several of the boxes had dead Wood Duck remains in them from Raccoons entering and eating the hen Wood Duck. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER put a Wood Duck box on a tree.

I checked the Prothonotary Warbler boxes at Panther Lake near Fuquay Varina, NC. last week. It is not a very big lake so I only have 5 boxes on the lake. All 5 boxes had nests in them this year. The boxes are mounted on metal conduit poles over water about 5 feet from land.
I am planning on putting up 4 more boxes on Panther Lake.

641 baby Wood Ducks hatched and made it out of the box.
38 hen Wood Ducks banded on Holt Lake.
A total of 81 Wood Ducks were banded in Johnston Co.
1 Hooded Merganser was banded.

91 baby Warblers fledged.

I have installed a new microphone inside the wood duck box at egg level. I have no doubt we will be able to hear the eggs hatching now. No static or humming either.

After Woodiemae & company leaves the nest box I will be switching to a new nest with hen wood duck Woodielou. Hatch watch starts July 4th.
